Know Thine Enemy 4

My Pastor, Kent McBay, provided most of the scriptures that will appear in this article. He also provided or inspired the thoughts that will appear here.

Satan wants to control our thoughts, speech and actions. God also wants control of those things.

2 Corinthians 10:5: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Proverbs 23:7a: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: . . .

Philippians 4:8: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Psalms 19:14: Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Judges 3:7: And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves.

Satan wants us to forget God. He does not want us to know how and why he can be defeated.

Luke 22:31-32: And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

John 17:9: I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

John 17:20: Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

Believers have the intercessory prayers of Jesus, just as Peter did. We can be sure that Jesus* every prayer for us will be answered.

John 15:5: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

1 Peter 4:11: If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

1 John 5:4: For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Satan will be cast out of Heaven and we will not have to contend with Him there but we must know about his goals and methods as he operates here on earth.

Revelation 20:10: And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

It is wonderful to know that the doom of our adversary is sealed.

1 John 4:4: Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

It is wonderful to know that God is greater than Satan.

Colossians 2:15b: . . . having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

It is wonderful to know that Jesus defeated Satan and his minions when He died on that cross.
